Lisa and I have spent the past two days dismantling and painting the baby bike. To date, the fenders, side panels, mirror adapters, and 450 Rebel headlight have been painted Kubota type 2 orange. The tank and 1968 vintage helmet in the barn will receive their color coats tomorrow, after Lisa picks me up some new paint. The cylinder and head are now Chevrolet muscle car era red-orange, with the head fins sanded back to bare metal. Tuesday I'm supposed to be getting the new rear tire, since the tread bars and some holes were showing in the old one. All this was started 5 days before we leave for a rally/bike show in central MS. One of these days I'll have to stop putting myself under that kind of time crunch, although it really is the only way to get myself to finish what I start. The fishtail pipe and 12" glasspac should be coming next month. I can't wait to ditch that lousy stock muffler and make it sound like a motorcycle instead of a lawnmower. They'll run me about $75, and sound better than any megaphone (Trapp/Jardine types) that I've heard. Not quite a straight pipe, but close enough. I'm trying to set up a site for you folks to see the bikes, but it won't be until after September 1st.
Catch y'all later, it's supper time. Keep it in the wind.
